They are the most common type of guitars that youll find the market or in online stores. The reason behind their frequency is that they serve a wide range of musical situations.

These guitars rely on the wood quality and of their components to output the sound. Below well highlight four types of solid body guitars which are famous for the purpose they serve.

  • Stratocasters

Stratocasters features cutaway horns that give musicians the access to higher frets. Similarly, the back of the body is designed for comfort while performing for a long duration.

These guitars have three single coil pickups which transfer the vibration into the amplifier, they all can be turned on at once for producing a wide range of sounds. Likewise, it also features a tremolo bar which can help the user to lower or raise the pitch by pulling up or down the bar for producing a wide range of effects.

Stratocaster is the best option for producing all around music, ranging from country to heavy metal.

Stratocaster is a nobles choice if you all looking for the guitar that can serve you with every genre of music!

  • Telecasters

Telecasters is an another lineup by Fenders which includes a single cutaway as that of Stratocasters for easier reachability to higher frets.

These guitars feature two single coil pickups which can be used separately or with each other for producing large-scale sounds. Likewise, telecasters are hugely known for producing a thin and biting sound which is mainly linked with country music but nowadays they are popular amongst indie musicians as well.

Tele guitars are not likely to produce heavy metal or rock music.

If you want to go light on metal terms and concentrate on country music more than telecasters can do the job for you.

  • Les Pauls

Les Pauls are all about that heavy metal feel and heavy weight. They were introduced with two p-90 single coil pickups but nowadays double humbucker pickups are featured for outputting a thick and sustainable sound. Like Tele and Strato casters they have a single cutaway shape.

Les Pauls are loved by heavy rock musicians. Fenders offer a quite affordable range of Les Paul electrical guitars as compared to Gibsons but Epiphone by Gibsons is a hot topic among the beginners.

  • Semi Acoustic Electrical Guitars

Semi acoustic guitars have hollow bodies which give them a warmer and dynamic range of sounds. They can be played without an amplifier for producing an unusable sound somehow. So a semi-acoustic guitar relies on an amplifier.

Similarly, they are vulnerable from unwanted feedback as the distorted sound increases the chances of feedback. Thats why we dont see rock and metal musicians playing a semi-acoustic guitar. But many guitars have solid blocks inside for decreasing the feedback factor.

Below are some types semi-acoustic electrical guitars that can put your mind forward to buy one!

  • 335s

All components make up to produce the sound. So before switching or buying a new guitar, you need to learn about every part to successfully fill your need.

  • Head

The head is known as the part of wood at the end of the neck that holds down the tuners. So you might Consider the size and shape of the guitar as it holds down the tuner which assists the notes due to the way the neck vibrates.

  • Tuners

As mentioned above the tuners are located at the head of the guitar. They are placed according to the shape and size of the head.

They are arranged either 3 or 6 at each side. Similarly, good quality made tuners outputs the precise notes.

  • The string retainers

They are usually in the Fender Stratocaster guitars. They keep your strings at an angle to pressurize the nut so that your strings dont pop out when you are practicing hard!

  • Truss adjustment

Truss adjusters adjust the curve of the neck for keeping the strings aligned and to adjust the height of the strings.

  • Nut

The nut is a little piece of plastic that has slots into it to hold each string individually. Nut keep in the strings aligned and supports the string at the end of the head. Similarly, nut sets the spacing of each string and holds the string at a proper height.

Correct depth should be carved of nut slots for avoiding buzzing sound and making guitar easy to play.

  • Neck

The neck is a long piece of wood that connects the head and the body and holds down the fretboard, frets, nut, and tuners.

A proper material choice should be countable as it connects the base and the head along with the fretboard and strings.

  • Frets

Frets are the horizontal metal strips on the fingerboard that divided the neck into fixed segments. Each segment represents one semitone.

Basically, when strings are pressed against the frets it reduces the vibrating length of the string to the bridge and the next fret.

There are three types of frets. Fan frets give the lower-pitched strings more length and the higher strings shorter length. Scalloped frets allow a lighter touch for precise finger movements with easing bending and vibration, it is used in heavy metal music. Fat frets were used is old guitar they are made out of thin or thick wire for easier bending.

Which fret suits you the most?

  • Fret Markers

Fret markers are those white or colored dots on the fret board. They are indicators that help you out on which position you are.

  • Fret Board

Fretboard or the fingerboard is a long strip of wood or any other material which is laminated to the front of the neck. The strings run over the board between the nut and the bridge.

In violin, viola or cello board is made up of ebony, rosewood or hardwood else on guitar the board is made up of wood.

  • Strings

Strings produce sound in the guitar. They are held under tension so that they can vibrate freely but at a controllable situation. In electronic guitar, since there are no holes, the vibration is passed to a pickup which senses the vibration by the principle of direct electromagnetic induction and further passes on to the guitar amplifier.

There are two types of string in electrical guitars a lighter and a heavier gauge string. Lighter ones are easier to play and allow easy bending of notes, likewise, they can be broken easily and produce less volume. On the other side, heavier ones produce high volume but are hard to play and requires more finger pressure to bend notes.

  • Body

As guided above, electric guitars have a solid body and they transmit the vibrations to the amplifier by the aid of pickups which senses the vibrations. Some electric guitars have semi-hollow bodies (click for our full guide into this) for a low volume situation like solo performances and related.

  • Pickguard

The main serving of the pick guard is to protect the guitars finish from scratches and all that.

  • Pickups

This the main component that differs the acoustic guitars from electric guitars. A pickup senses the vibration from a string, transfers it to the guitar amplifier which transfers it further to the loudspeaker.

There are many pickups but well carry on with the basic four. The single coil pickup was a single coil of wire with two horseshoe-shaped magnets, they produce bright and cutting sound but they are quite noisy. The P90 pickup is a single coil pickup with one wide coil that increases the surface area of the strings which produces a bigger yet less bright sound. Humbucker pickups were designed with twin coil, they produced richer, warmer and powerful sounds but rolled back some higher frequencies sound. Active-passive pickups used the battery-powered circuit to produce a powerful yet balanced tone across a range of frequency. Similarly, it outputs a hotter, balanced clean tone and the ease of driving amps.

So which pickup has fulfilled your desire?

  • The pickup selector

Many electric guitars often feature more than one pickups for different outputs. A pickup selector switches on or off pickups.

  • Volume and Tone Controls

These parts turn the volume up and down and change the amount of treble.

  • Bridge

A bridge is a device that supports the strings and transmits the vibration to another component of the guitar. In an electric guitar, there are two types of bridges. Vibrato bridges have an arm that extends from beneath the string which acts as a lever, the player can push or pull it to change the tension and pitch. So the more contact bridge has with the body better the sound will be transferred into the body. On the other hand, we have non-vibrato bridges which provide an anchoring point but no control over pitch or tension of strings.

Both bridges have their own Pros and Cons but non-vibrato bridges provide better tuning stability and solid contact between the body and the strings.

Which one would you like to pick?

  • Strap button

Strap button keeps your guitar strap hooked up. The best kind of strap button is a locking strap button. It keeps your strap locked at the same place securely.

Before buying a new guitar or switching to another one you should Consider these main components that make up the guitar the best or the worse partner for you!

  • Are Electric Guitars Good for Beginners?

Starting to learn on an electric guitar can be much easier as compared to an acoustic guitar. Electric guitars chords are easier to hold down as the width of the neck is shorter. Similarly, the strings on the electric guitars are softer than that of acoustic guitars which would be a helping hand towards learning fingertips. Likewise, electric guitar generates sound with the help of amplifier which helps to create an ideal sound with less effort.

Choosing your first electric guitar can be a tough decision to make as the market is loaded with guitars to start with. Dont worry as we have got you covered! Well introduce you two of the top guitars for starting your rock and metal career!

Les Paul 100 by Epiphone is an entry level electronic guitar. The body is made up of mahogany which is known for warm/balanced sound with a good sustain. Rosewood fretboard enhances the sounds and sustains. C-shaped neck provides the beginner with ease and comfort. Likewise, this guitar features two humbucker pickups for clean and great sound.

Likewise, the five-way switch lets you combine these three pickups and produce the widest range sounds ever!

Overall these guitars are the best options for the ones who have just participated in the game.

  • Is an Electric Guitar Easier to Learn Than Acoustic?

There are two sides of every story, similarly that phenomena also applies to guitars.

Many people prefer to learn on acoustic guitars as it produces naturally soothing and calmer tone than that of amplified electric sound but the strings are much tougher which causes fatigue to learning fingertips. Similarly, the string produces buzzing effect as they are hard. Harder strings mean that the learning fingers will find it hard to play barre chords.

On the other hand, electric guitar offers comfort while holding down the chord as the width of the neck is shorter than that of an acoustic guitar. Similarly, the strings on an electric guitar are softer which makes learner practice for a long time without getting fatigued. But you have to buy an amplifier as well for producing sound in an electric guitar which costs extra bills. The habit of playing with light strings from the beginning can trouble in near future as acoustic guitars are also needed in various music production.

On the whole electric guitars are easier to learn on but if one had started to practice on acoustic guitars then hell find mastering electric guitars a child’s play.
