The RZA returns, producing another album showcasing various Wu-Tang projects. Some fit the traditional Wu mold, others don't. Some show promising talent, others don't. Wu-Tang Clan members are strewn about the album to add clout to The Sting. Even ODB appears on a track, which is more that can be said for the Wu-Tang's latest, Iron Flag.

Stand out artists include Black Nights ("Bar Mitzvah," "Rollin'," "Woodchuck"), North Star, and most notably, Lord Superb ("Spend Money," "Take Up Space"). Lord Superb sounds like a younger, refined ODB. The two tracks he appears on are classic Wu material. Other seasoned Wu-Tang productions include Killarmy and Shyheim. RZA appears as Bobby Digital, and the Limited Edition CD also includes a 2nd CD, an EP of Bobby Digital tracks (including the celebrated "La Rhumba").

Even with the splashing of Wu-Tang Clan members and RZA, Wu-Tang Killa Beez: The Sting is less then stellar. Tracks like "Out Think Me Now" and "Hatin' Don't Pay" have too much of a West Coast, player/gangster feel to fit the Wu-Tang mold, and simply won't please Wu-Tang fans. The better tracks on The Sting aren't quite good enough to help the whole album, but there is enough content to make it an average Wu-Tang production. 15-Jul-2002 11:50 PM
