Fantastic, Based on 4 Critics

Based on rating 5.0/5

Gut-wrenching beauty "Bull Believer" may end up being one of the most important songs of the year. With its two-part narrative, the first half of the song tells the sad vision of watching someone you know succumb to addiction while the latter half embraces a bittersweet reflection on teenage years. With every passing line and gritty guitar passage, the sadness builds and tension grows thicker.

Under The Radar - 80
Based on rating 8/10

The Blue Ridge Mountains of Appalachia are some of the oldest in the world. Ancient, tired and full of deeply guarded secrets. This equally tattered and mystical place is where the members of Wednesday cut their teeth and draw their inspiration. Wednesday's Karly Hartzman paints a perfect picture of what it is like to take a peek behind the white picket fences of America’s Southern States, regardless of where in the world you might be tuning in from. 'Rat Saw God' – the band's first release for Dead Oceans following two records with Orindal – is a hazily relatable collection of stories about burnouts, heartbreaks and the dilapidated state lives can fall into. Documenting both desperation and deliverance through a littered trail of shoegazing noise ('Bull Brazen'), heartland rock ('Chosen To Deserve') and Waterloo Sunsets ('Quarry'), the four piece effortlessly unravel a special thread of indie rock.
