Liverpool pop trio Stealing Sheep are delivering Big Wows, their third record and first since 2015's Not Real; its lengthy gestation period was the result of collaborations with multiple producers in search of the album's sound. Taut and built upon arpeggiated synths coupled with a prominent rhythm section, the album pokes fun at our over-stimulated reality, while commenting on the struggles we face to retain individuality and authenticity. Stealing Sheep's 2012 debut album, Into The Diamond Sun, was brilliantly eccentric; a folkish experiment with electronics and distinctive three-way harmonies. They've continued developing the principles that shaped their early sound – in fact, they're so developed that this, their third record, could be another band entirely. Where once they sat firmly in the kooky indie camp, Big Wows sees their landscape shift to a sort of neon, cosmic disco.
