Album Review: All That Is Over by Sprints

Great, Based on 4 Critics

The Skinny - 80
Based on rating 4/5

Aesthetically, SPRINTS' sophomore record feels definitively like autumn. From the cover art's palette of muted purple and orange tones to the yellow typeface resembling fall leaves as they change in October, the record feels like crisp temperatures and the sounds of horror. It's either serendipity or incredibly intentional that the record is out four days after the start of fall is marked by the autumnal equinox.

The Line of Best Fit - 70
Based on rating 7/10

Their debut Letter to Self captured that in bursts of cathartic punk fury, a record that sounded like it was written on the run, between hangovers and existential reckonings. It was enough to catapult them from Dublin clubs to European tours, and in 2024 they became one of those rare breakthrough bands who felt both deeply local and completely universal. But what do you do once the breakthrough has happened? For Sprints, the answer is not to consolidate but to burn it all down.

DIY Magazine
Opinion: Absolutly essential

Since Dublin's Sprints exploded out the gate with the stunning 'Letter To Self' at the start of last year, they've proved a relentless force across the live touring circuit. Matching their furious off-kilter racket with an equally poignant and powerful performance, their schedule recently climaxed with an early afternoon set at Glastonbury, fittingly pairing their political punk with matching backdrops calling the amped up crowd to action. Time on the road, it seems, has done little to quash their outrage - a time that has also birthed 'All That Is Over', their second album in two years and one that carries much of the visceral frustration that its forebearer began, rolled out at breakneck speed.

Clash Music
Opinion: Very Good

'All That Is Over' – the sophomore album from SPRINTS – distorts what is expected with a dynamic and ominous punk release. After laying significant groundwork with their first album 'Letter To Self' with five star reviews and an Irish Choice Music Prize nod SPRINTS continue to be a vessel for clever driven punk music. 'All That Is Over' commences with 'Abandon', a slow and ominous track, immediately assuring that their second album is more than a simple punk number.
