The ringmaster of carnival metal makes a return to his classic sound on sixth outing The Electric Warlock Acid Witch Satanic Orgy Celebration Dispenser. Retaining typical hallmarks of the Rob Zombie brand, listeners can expect a bucketload of B-movie schlock, intergalactic acid-industrial, and a whole grave-full of sex and violence. Propulsive and exciting, it's also Zombie's tightest album since 2001's Sinister Urge.
For all of his heaviness and fascination with horror, Rob Zombie mostly just likes to list stuff. On “The Hideous Exhibitions of a Dedicated Gore Whore”, he lists all of a woman’s freaky tattoos (Vincent Price on her thigh, a Wolf Man on her fist, a Dracula on her neck). On “The Life and Times of a Teenage Rock God”, he lists all of the freaky things he’s going to do that night (drink gasoline, eat some speed, go to Transylvania).
Rob Zombie’s music career often feels completely separate from his cinematic endeavors. This disconnection is curious, especially because the sinister-meets-schlocky vibe of his solo records is a perfect complement to his horror movie work. Still, Zombie’s moving closer to bridging the gap between his creative sides: Not only is he apparently making a film to go along with his sixth solo record, The Electric Warlock Acid Witch Satanic Orgy Celebration Dispenser, but the album itself is structured like a soundtrack.
