Album Review: Liverpool 8 by Ringo Starr

It can’t be easy being a Beatle. Yes, you’re rich and you played in the biggest pop band ever, but anything you do after is going to be compared to that. In this case, Ringo Starr puts little effort into discouraging those comparisons, instead crafting an album that borrows heavily from the Beatles’ bag of sonic goodies. If this were a young band, we’d accuse them of blatantly ripping off that sound, but is it fair to level the same criticism at Starr? Had he drastically switched things up and reinvented himself, most fans would be disappointed.
