Rather than an album of doggerel for Crufts-lovers, Rex the Dog's debut is a crunchy, 45-minute set of party-time electro. The person behind the pooch is Jake Williams, who last pumped up the charts as JX, with the 1994 handbag house hit, Son of a Gun. The intervening years have pushed him towards vintage synthesisers, as well as sketchily drawn cartoon pseudonyms, and some of these Korg-heavy tracks work well.
