Album Review: The Public Image Is Rotten: Songs from the Heart [Box Set] by Public Image Ltd.

Love him or loathe him, you have to concede John Lydon's made a difference, even if excessive Sex Pistols reunions, reality TV shenanigans, pro-Brexit declarations and Country Life butter ads have found him veering a little too close to parody for comfort in more recent times. Thankfully, this set refocuses on the main reason why we should still give Lydon the time of day: his singular back catalogue. While this most iconoclastic of frontmen may be inextricably linked to punk and the Pistols, The Public Image Is Rotten (Songs From The Heart) reveals that Lydon's ever-evolving second band has arguably played the more significant role in reshaping the landscape over the past four decades.
