Third album time for Colin MacIntyre, which finds our hypersensitive auteur flicking through the A to Z of classic pop and chopping it up it in his whimsical Magimix. He aims to get listeners onside with his opening salvo of songs, the crisp Peculiar, the Teenage Fanclub-esque How 'Bout I Love You More, and the quaveringly tuneful Treescavengers, though, as the disc wears onwards, MacIntyre's pallid voice and incontrovertible wimpishness can sometimes bring on mild sensations of nausea. Split-personality MacIntyre never seems quite sure whether he wants to be a fey balladeer or a cranky eccentric from just off the west coast of Scotland.
