Throughout the 2010s, Swedish producer Mr. Tophat (Rudolf Nordström) released dozens of 12" singles, generally consisting of sunny, sprawling house tracks and mostly made in collaboration with Art Alfie, co-founder of the Stockholm-based Karlovak label. Tophat gained a significant amount of exposure through his collaborations with Robyn; the pop icon added a sensual touch to the producer's 2017 EP Trust Me, and Nordström then handled production duties for two tracks on 2018's Honey.
Hardcore Robyn fans already know the work of Swedish producer Rudolf Nordström, aka Mr. Tophat. He co-produced "Baby Forgive Me" and "Beach2k20," two of the gorgeous, gently filtered house-pop tracks from last year's Honey; his own 2017 release Trust Me, a three-song, 35-minute EP of throbbing, desaturated grooves, featured Robyn throughout. His latest solo release, Dusk to Dawn, is an ambitious three-album suite of understated, occasionally disquieting techno nocturnes.
