Album Review: Reincarnate by Motionless in White

Fairly Good, Based on 3 Critics

AllMusic - 70
Based on rating 7/10

Settling into the more industrial sound they started transitioning into with Infamous, Motionless in White deliver a more assured and consistent performance on their third album, Reincarnate. Blending the dark and seedy edge of Marilyn Manson with a driving, melodic edge, the album effortlessly combines the styles of the band's previous efforts, creating an explosive sound that feels more fully realized than anything they've done up to this point. From the outset, the thing that listeners will be initially taken aback by is how massive the record sounds.

Rock Sound - 60
Based on rating 6/10

Chris Motionless and Co. are carving their own path. But is 'Reincarnate' the resolute success it needs to be? Motionless In White’s third full-length sees them firming up the sound they settled on with last album ‘Infamous’, but with varying degrees of success. For starters, tar-coated opener ‘Death March’ runs a little too close to becoming a Marilyn Manson B-side, and ‘Puppets 3 (The Grand Finale)’ shoehorns a guest spot from Cradle Of Filth man Dani Filth into an already muddled mix.

Alternative Press
Opinion: Excellent

Motionless In White’s third album makes good on frontman Chris Motionless’ desire to take his band in places he felt they needed to go—as opposed to places where the band’s fans wanted them to stay. Sonically diverse and diamond-hard, Reincarnate takes seemingly disparate elements to create a soundtrack for metalheads, gothic beauties and industrial rivetheads to immerse themselves. Guitarists Ricky Horror and Ryan Sitkowski never fail to deliver riffage that will open up pits, while synth op Josh Balz creates inspired electronic vistas that peak all the meters measuring the band’s intensity quotient.
