Album Review: The Heat Warps by Modern Nature

Modern Nature's latest borrows its title from a website dedicated to covering Miles Davis' electric years. And electric The Heat Warps is. Pulling back from the multi-year progression towards more improvisational releases, the album relies on the simplest of equations--two guitars, voice, drums, and bass. If the works leading up to now can be viewed as a morning glory unfolding and emitting a slowly dissipating scent, The Heat Warps brings the petals in upon themselves trapping a couple of busily buzzing bees in its folds.
