In Isabella Rossellini's Green Porno, the actress and performance artist used costumes and chintzy set pieces to explain how insects have sex. The series, which debuted in 2008, consists of short videos wherein Rossellini does things like dress up in a praying mantis costume and talk about how, when the male mantis mates with a female, the female mantis will bite its head off. In another clip, titled "Whale," she explains the difficulties of reproducing when you live mostly underwater and are the world's largest mammal.
Opinion: Excellent
Photo by Jasper McMahon Life, and Another by Mega Bog Erin Birgy creates engrossing tension in her music as Mega Bog, juxtaposing giddy rushes of words with music that can possess languid elegance; decadence, even. There's an excitable, joyful energy that brings to mind hearing childhood stories read aloud, stories in which fantastical or forbidden things are happening. The chasm between the magical world of childhood and the sober world of adulthood is bridged, braided, dashed between.
