Pilgrimage, the magnificent sophomore release from Alberta, Canada’s doom/noise duo Mares of Thrace is an album of few ingredients. However, the resulting mixture is rich and full-bodied. Canadian doom/noise duo Mares of Thrace, based in Calgary, AB, feature guitarist/vocalist Thérèse Lanz (who plays a custom built baritone guitar with both guitar and bass pickups) and drummer Stef MacKichan. The Pilgrimage is their second album, following 2010's The Moulting. While Mares of Thrace have been together since 2008, Lanz and MacKichan have spent over ten years collaborating together, including in the defunct Kilbourne.
