One of the best developments in the Duke Spirit's career is Liela Moss' growth into a powerful yet nuanced singer. During the band's early years, her fire-breathing vocals were instantly compelling, but over time she proved just as capable on more reflective later work like 2016's Kin and the following year's Sky Is Mine. During the Duke Spirit's hiatus following these back-to-back albums, Moss remained busy, and on her first solo album, Your Name Is Safe in My Mouth, she delves deeper into lush, pensive ballads.
