This debut is certainly very poppy, but also nods towards indie-rock, industrial and disco. Pigeonholing its creator is a tricky task If you’ve even the slightest interest in alternative music, it’s likely you’ll have heard Jessica Winter, even if you’ve not realised it. She’s worked with The Horrors, Fat White Family and The Big Moon, and also toured with acts as diverse as Death Grips and Rebecca Black.
Opinion: Excellent
The aptly titled 'My First Album' is a long time coming - but across a Baker's Dozen of deliciously dark synth pop constructions, Jessica Winter makes it well worth the wait. An effortlessly chic songwriter, each detail her feels endlessly finessed. A striking alt-pop auteur, Jessica Winter is able to bring December's darkness into the bright light of midsummer.
