The healing power of community And I understand / That I am in my soul a woman These final words of You Are The Morning tell the story. This isn't just a narrative of the issues of jasmine.4.t's endeavors; it's a story of finding identity and healing in community. While the tracks share the personal struggles of homelessness, harassment, and emotional pain, there's beauty found within the cracks.

The Line of Best Fit - 90

Released via Phoebe Bridgers' Saddest Factory Records, her signing is the stuff of indie legend. Having toured with Lucy Dacus pre-transition, they continued to demo-swap until Cruickshank convinced her friend to play the tracks to Bridgers. Both musicians wanted to produce the album, and with their boygenius bandmate Julien Baker privy to the conversation, it was settled that all three would take on the role.

Already one of 2025’s best albums, at a time when trans people’s rights have never seemed more in danger, it’s one of its most important too Just a few years ago, Jasmine Cruickshank was living in her parents’ basement in Bristol, suffering with long covid in the aftermath of the break-up of her marriage. With lives as cynical as all those born between 1990 and 2010 are predestined to have, and as tragic as our short-lived beauties often find themselves, it's a wonder some people find the time to uplift each other. On jasmine.4.t's debut record, You Are the Morning, it's often accomplished by Jasmine Cruickshank uplifting herself first. In a sad world that expresses its hopes in oblique ironies, my soul leaps out for the simple sincerity of her music.

No Ripcord - 60
Based on rating 6/10

Manchester-based singer-songwriter Jasmine.4.t's debut album is a warm folk-inflected affair with a heavy focus on trans identity, trans for trans love, and community. As a trans woman, Jasmine has reflected on the myriad challenges she has faced during her transition — including divorce and rejection — and while You Are The Morning certainly channels her pain and fear, it is not a record without hope. Amid the echoes of Sufjan Stevens (Kitchen) and Bon Iver (Roan), there is heavy boygenius/Phoebe Bridgers flavour that makes immediate sense when you learn who produced You Are The Morning.

DIY Magazine
Opinion: Fantastic

That jasmine.4.t should be part of the Phoebe Bridgers cinematic universe is arguably the most glaringly obvious facet of debut album 'You Are The Morning'. A record brimming with folksy warmth and vivid storytelling, with song structures that build on themselves so smartly as to belie their frequently six-minute-plus length, it brings the phrase 'match made in heaven' in mind - particular considering that, as well as releasing through Saddest Factory, these tracks were also produced by Phoebe and her boygenius comrades Lucy Dacus and Julien Baker. More surprisingly, given the record's sound, is that the experiences that fed into it came via Bristol and Manchester.

Clash Music
Opinion: Excellent

There's something simple yet also incredibly precise about the work of jasmine.4.t. On each song, every note hangs in its right place - anymore, and it would collapse under its own weight; any less, and it wouldn't be as effective. Debut album 'You Are The Morning' is terrific - the powerful testimony of a trans woman, it's also purely and simply an example of fantastic songwriting, and emotionally gripping performances.
