Buy Open Wide from Amazon
Their third album only sporadically flickers with promise and occasional glimpses of what might be It's easy for critics to resent a band like Inhaler, with their front man’s famous father, near-instant signing to a major label, and early tours supporting Noel Gallagher. But beyond the whispers of nepotism, the real issue with Inhaler is far simpler: the music, despite their Number 1 album placing for 2021’s debut effort It Won’t Always Be Like This, is plain average. There's only so far that industry connections can get you, and – with third album Open Wide – Inhaler might have reached their limit.
As much as the idea of trusting feelings and instincts is of appeal, it's easier said than done, but Inhaler seem to have found a striking route into the intricate domain. 'Open Wide' sounds more free than anything they have released before, and the trust in what feels right makes for a better album. It is not just third time lucky. The Dublin indie-pop band were already high performers.
