Album Review: Tales Told by Ian Broudie

Irretrievably associated with the Cool Britannia/Blair/ Britpop era, Broudie's Lightning Seeds soundtracked the late-1990s with songs full of triumphal blue-eyed optimism. Five years on, Britain is a different place indeed, so it's no surprise that Broudie's first solo album by name has such a hungover, wistful feel. Where Broudie's wafer-thin voice used to form a fragile counterbalance to his wall of sound, here it sounds exposed.
