Album Review: In Plain Sight by Honeyblood

Acceptable, Based on 3 Critics

The Line of Best Fit - 70
Based on rating 7/10

Her tracks - often blisteringly anthemic - demonstrate an understanding of the medium that others often lack, with Tweeddale refreshingly unafraid to modernize whilst paying clear homage to the sounds and themes of '90s Riot Grrrl. Previously signed to FatCat Records, In Plain Sight is Honeyblood 's first release on Marathon Artists, home to some of the most vital voices in rock music right now. This is not the only shakeup, as In Plain Sight is also Tweeddale's first release as a solo artist.

New Musical Express (NME) - 40
Based on rating 2/5

True to its name, 'In Plain Sight' feels too obvious to excite, and enormous production isn't enough to disguise what is a strangely weightless record And then there was one. Now the solo project of Stina Tweeddale, Honeyblood's 'In Plain Sight' is a searing third record with clear anthem-baiting ambitions. There are shades of The Kills to be found in these spiky juggernaut riffs.

Clash Music
Opinion: Average

Honeyblood's third LP sees the Glasgow outfit fully formed, producing their most ambitious LP to date. 'In Plain Sight' sees Stina Tweeddale take centre stage, develop Honeyblood's sound solo - blurring the boundaries of genre, focusing on big, bold songwriting and expanding her sonic horizons. Alongside super-producer John Congleton, 'In Plain Sight' merges Honeyblood's more traditional post-punk sound with futuristic sci-fi drones and thumping yet fuzzy basslines.
