Not enough of what's written about Hercules and Love Affair talks about how they've managed to carve out two different narratives for themselves in parallel. On paper, and to many trainspotting DJ types, they're the sole invention of Brooklyn-based producer Andy Butler; this arrangement-- wherein interchangeable parts orbit around a single driving force-- is one we all recognize and understand. In the live environment, though, that dynamic isn't so clear cut.

Hercules and Love Affair's 2008 debut album was a turning point in the indie dance world, providing a soulful alternative to the chainsaw bass lines and rave sirens of the bloghouse brigade. While the world awaits their next mission statement, main man Andy Butler has cranked out this DJ mix, a window into the dance tracks that originally inspired him. [rssbreak] That means lots of underground 90s house and some disco oddities, along with I Can't Wait, a new Hercules and Love Affair track.
