Heidi Talbot was born in Ireland, became a folk star in the USA as a member of the Irish-American band Cherish the Ladies, and now lives in Scotland, where she is married to the celebrated fiddler and multi-instrumentalist John McCusker. With a background like that, it's hardly surprising she should develop a style that switches easily between Celtic and Americana, especially as her remarkable backing band includes many of the cast of the Transatlantic Sessions. The 15 other instrumentalists and six other singers include American country and bluegrass heroes Jerry Douglas and Tim O'Brien, Mark Knopfler, and Scottish stars Karine Polwart, King Creosote and Julie Fowlis.
A fifth solo album somewhat unbalanced by inappropriate guest turns. Jeanette Leech 2013. The flute-like voice of Ireland’s Heidi Talbot is a fine instrument. Every word is clear, each note hit, yet it’s no bragging perfection. Her tones still have a whispering undertow to them..
