From the Beach Boys to Dr. Dre, from War to X, from Guns N' Roses to Kendrick Lamar, southern California has inspired more great driving music than any other part of the country. And so it goes for 19-year-old college student and occasional surfer Yoodoo Park, who first started recording short, melancholic guitar-pop songs as GRMLN two years ago for his own enjoyment while cruising around in his car.

Vowels are pretty fundamental. You can’t really make English words without them. It’s more than a little symbolic then, that bedroom-pop outfit GRMLN has no vowels in the project name. GRMLN is one guy, Yoodoo Park, and his dream-pop on Explore EP is pretty standard surf-inflected pop. The ….
