Dropped by Rough Trade after 2006's You See Colours, Southampton's Delays have returned to the melodic pop of their debut, Faded Seaside Glamour, with added orchestral colour. The dizzy, euphoric racket is occasionally brought earthward by lyrics that hint at darker troubles, such as the addled rock star of Pieces and frequent references to fracturing relationships. Greg Gilbert's vocals, too, sound more road-scuffed than before, though this doesn't prevent things occasionally getting too gooey.
