Album Review: All My Relations by Cochemea

California native Cochemea Gastelum's solo full-length taps into a spiritual jazz vibe with All My Relations. The Daptone saxophonist and longtime Dap-Kings member (RIP Sharon Jones) explores his ancestral roots — crossing a soundscape populated with North African rhythms, American Indian musicality and Latin jazz and funk sensibilities to achieve something simultaneously meditative and stirring.   It's a globetrotting affair: the wah-wah brass and dhol drums of "Mitote" make for a savoury blend, the Indigenous chants and percussion ….
