Snaith has long played around with duality in his music. As Caribou he explores the swells of human emotion and as Daphni he farms the rich soil of dance floor beats. Each exists to contrast the other and provide an avenue for further experimentation more than two decades on. The kaleidoscopic nature of Snaith's approach is dazzling, perhaps no more so than on Honey, where it feels like both Caribou and Daphni collide in a purposeful Rorschach blot.

Dan Snaith embraces AI to deliver a feelgood set of tracks that provide a sun-drenched idyll Dan Snaith is on a prolific streak of late. His Daphni and Caribou aliases have yielded one album each in the early 2020s, showing that there is no sign of the producer losing his ability to project his music towards a heaving dancefloor. Now he returns to Caribou for a sixth time, during which he has started to dabble in the controversial area of AI.

The creep of AI into the arts has gathered pace recently, but it's rare to see a somewhat mainstream artist incorporate it as prominently as Dan Snaith has on Honey. For someone who has embraced restless creative impulses as a mission statement from day one, it's perhaps not surprising. But while this aspect of the album may draw attention, the reliably impressive arrangements are what keep it grounded in the consistent lineage of Caribou.
Opinion: Excellent
A project that has built a cult following and a festival perennial, Dan Snaith's Caribou returns with a sixth outing that rarely puts a foot wrong. Opener 'Broke My Heart' is an unstoppable force of nature, its irrepressible energy well-suited for early hours. The title track continues in this vein with pulsating drum loops and electronic grooves: this is pure feel-good music.

Few artists have had as much consistent success as Caribou within live electronic music. Blending electronic, pop, psychedelia and indie sounds, Dan Snaith has been reaping the rewards from his innovations for more than twenty years. The Canadian producer's latest album, 'Honey', represents a fascinating evolution, delving into a soundscape designed to light up the dancefloor whilst still being innovative and intricate.
