Australia's Capture the Crown bring a heavy dose of straightforward metalcore aggression on this, their second LP. The album contains far fewer electronic elements—and harmonic riffs—than their synth-laden 2012 release, 'Til Death,' underscoring the scene’s shift toward a more authentic hardcore sound. The result is an intense, if repetitive and less original, breakdown-infused sound, spruced up with memorable choruses, like on standouts “Red Light District” and “Smirk.” While the new sound may alienate a few old fans, 'Reign of Terror' is a solid album that should win over just as many new converts.
Capture The Crown seem to be playing it a bit safe on their second album 'Reign Of Terror'.... Making their Artery debut with their second full-length, Sydney metalcore outfit Capture The Crown play a safe yet solid hand with ‘Reign Of Terror’. Blasting through meaty breakdowns and clean choruses, ‘To Whom It May Concern’ is an undoubted highlight that slightly deviates from the formula.
