Hip-hop is perilously low on fresh subject matter. The average rap fan will already be au fait with the names of New York and LA's roughest neighbourhoods, several brands of handgun and at least a dozen names for marijuana. Although Timbaland protege Bubba Sparxxx, a white rapper from rural Georgia, initially seems like a novelty act, he has opened up a whole new territory for rap.
