We're the aggressive youth... Beartooth’s second full-length is very much a continuation of the sound they established on their debut, but that’s far from a bad thing.Songs like ‘Hated’ and ‘Burnout’ deliver the perfect mix of fist-in-the-face mosh and scream-your-lungs-out choruses. There’s another John Feldmann co-penned anthem in ‘Sick Of Me’ and things get really raucous on ‘Always Dead’.
Aggressive is the title of Beartooth's sophomore LP, and it's as apt a title as it could have. After a huge month for the post-hardcore scene with releases from Saosin and Architects, this record continues the hot streak. Caleb Shomo has crafted a sound that's comparable to Sam Carter at their heaviest, with debatably more interesting instrumentals behind, but decidedly worse diction than he or the untouchable Anthony Green.
Back when Caleb Shomo was fronting electro-metal unit Attack! Attack!, nobody really expected him to forge a path of his own in heavy music. When he started making club tracks under the name Class, nobody was expecting any kind of Skrillexian success from some dude collecting recording gear in a basement in Columbus, Ohio. Of course, when Shomo unveiled his one-man demolition squad Beartooth back in 2014, heads didn’t turn as much as they twisted right off.
