On first impressions of the 10th album by the Magazine alumnus, solo artist and on-off Bad Seed, you might be forgiven for assuming he had composed a score for an alien-heavy horror film. Not surprising, given that Adamson has soundtracked everything from David Lynch’s Lost Highway to ballet (plus the odd imagined film). But just as the menacing, John Carpenter-esque organ and synth are proving thoroughly unnerving, he switches the channel.
More monochrome musical movies from the Mancunian. Manchester’s second most famous post-punk bass maestro returns to his Brighton home studio following a fruitful but temporary reunion with Nick Cave and his Bad Seeds, including a US tour which partly inspired this solo album and its accompanying photo book. .
