Album Review: Stone Love by Angie Stone

Fairly Good, Based on 1 Critic

The Guardian - 60
Based on rating 3/5

Once expected to succeed Mary J Blige as the queen of modern R&B, Angie Stone has instead adopted a queen-mother role, purveying technically flawless but staid old-schoolisms. As per her first two albums, this one is consistently admirable, but unlikely to get the charts into a tizzy. It's self-written, thoughtfully sung and mainly free of back-slapping guest slots (Snoop Dogg's cameo on I Wanna Thank Ya is a must-hear for the old pooch's "gangsta love" babbling).
