The PR bumph calls Ane Brun a "Norwegian freak-folk songstress", which conjures thoughts of her writhing compatriot Ida Maria, but she appears to be wholly sane, if prone to lachrymose musing. At home, she's an award-winning big cheese, but knowledge of her in the UK begins and ends with her cover of Cyndi Lauper's True Colours, which recently found a home in a Sky advertisement. If piano-tinkling tremulousness appeals, you'll want this album.
