Masters of dark electronica, the duo of Nicola Kuperus and Adam Lee Miller have never veered away the benefits of both disconnecting and getting weird with their music. Whether it be the driving "Hand To Phone (Cordless Mix)" or the intensely listenable "Tonight, We Fall", ADULT. have been reliable over their two decades releasing music as offering total escape to their fans.
With This Behavior, Adult. 's Nicola Kuperus and Adam Lee Miller celebrate their 20th anniversary and their Dais Records debut in the most appropriate way -- with a return to the most immediate, kinetic side of their music. Though it arrives just over a year after Detroit House Guests, This Behavior couldn't be more different than that album's cerebral collaborations.
Some musicians are so overwhelmingly associated with a specific era that, when discussing work created by them long after that era has passed, you know there'll be no getting through to some people. I understand their thinking: quick-fix flashes of fun, bedhopping from scene to scene, ruthless ghosting as soon as a movement threatens to get stale in favour of the anointed New Thing. Couldn't hear all the good music out there if we lived to a thousand, anyway.
