The Detroit synthpop duo tread fine line between order and chaos on a twisted, thrilling ride Ever since the instantly iconic electroclash tune Hand To Phone, Detroit synthpop duo ADULT. have remained stubbornly recognisable. Their songs tread a fine line between order and chaos, as stiff, brittle drum machines interlock with stilted, avant-garde vocal performances.
Rising to prominence as ADULT. during New York's electroclash movement of the early 2000s, Kuperus and Miller began working on what would later become their ninth full-length album, Becoming Undone, shortly after the start of the pandemic. The album manifested from their collective experience of social isolation as well as the passing of Kuperus' father that same year.
