High-value Folk Acoustic-electric Guitar

The Yamaha FSX830C acoustic-electric guitar stems from a long heritage of amazing FG "folk guitar" acoustic guitars and gives you incredible value at an entry-level price. The guitar's combination of premium tonewoods makes it a great value for seasoned players. Its combination of a smaller folk body, solid Sitka spruce top, and rosewood back and sides is responsible for the FSX830C's beautiful voice. And Yamaha's System-66 electronics take that sound onto the stage. Let your guitar-playing journey start with an amazing instrument you'll love playing for years to come - the Yamaha FSX830C folk acoustic guitar.

Genuine Sitka spruce top for great tone

Yamaha chose a solid Sitka spruce top for their FSX830C for both its look and tone. Sitka spruce has a well-rounded, articulate sound with excellent projection. These qualities have made it the undisputed leader for acoustic guitar tops throughout the industry. And because it's a solid-wood top, the tone will age gracefully, with enhanced harmonics and greater tonal balance as the years go by. And Yamaha improved their scalloped bracing on the FSX830C to allow for more top movement, resulting in a larger low end and more projection.

Rosewood back and sides

The FSX830C sports a body made from rosewood. This wood is a favorite among flatpickers and fingerpickers at Sweetwater for its warm tone with plenty of harmonic content. Its rich sound enhances the lowest fundamental as well as top-end clarity, delivering a punchy tone that is great for getting through a mix. The sound is very fast to react, too, so every nuance of your playing is heard with definition. Combined with the lively and defined sound of the spruce top, you'll love the rich and wide-ranging tone you get from the Yamaha FSX830C folk acoustic-electric.

Yamaha System-66 electronics

The Yamaha FSX830C acoustic-electric guitar also has you covered when it's time to take the stage. The System-66 pickup and preamp electronics deliver the true sound of your guitar's spruce and rosewood tonewoods. The onboard preamp features a 3-band EQ with sweepable mids to help notch out unwanted feedback. It also boasts a fast and reliable tuner to keep your performances sounding great. And the battery compartment is easily accessed on the upper bout of the guitar for quick changes.

Yamaha FSX830C Acoustic-electric Guitar Features:

  • Value-packed acoustic-electric
  • Folk body style focuses the tone and is comfortable to play
  • Solid Sitka spruce top ages gracefully
  • Rosewood back and sides offer clarity and projection
  • System-66 electronics deliver great plugged-in tone
  • Single cutaway offers access to the higher frets

Great Guitar

Right out of the box all I did is tune it and play it. Sounds great. I wish I had paid closer attention to the guitar strap attachment points. I didn't notice that there was no strap hook on the guitar where the neck attaches to the guitar body. My fault for not asking more questions. All in all wonderful guitar. I would recommend this guitar to any one.

Great guitar even better value!

Finding the right acoustic can be tricky (especially online) but look no further because this guitar is as good as it gets for this price range. It sounds amazing right out of the box but I recommend getting it set up by a professional. When you have a professional set this guitar up for you this thing will play and sound like it costs thousands of dollars. I played a bunch of guitars in the $500 - $600 range and this one beat every one.

Amazing value!

I've owned a lot of guitars over the years, many of which I've ordered online from Sweetwater. Until a few years ago, I always favored dreadnaught acoustics, but shoulder problems caused me to look for something affordable in a concert sized body. A couple of years ago, I picked up a PRS SE Angelus A10E here at Sweetwater, which has a wonderful neck for acoustic leads. My search this time was for a companion guitar that would be better suited for solo acoustic work. While viewing a demo of the Fishman ToneDEQ, I was impressed with the Yamaha LL6, which led me to discover the FSX830C. The size and body depth are perfect for my needs, and the tone and finish are worthy of a guitar three times as costly. It's definitely a keeper!
Music background: 55 years playing guitar in bands, acoustic combos, and solo performance.

Play it all the time

08/06/2018. Owned it around 4-5 months now. I have other nice guitars but wanted a short (25") scale spruce and rosewood with cut-away and acoustic electric. This fills that very sufficiently. This was suppose to be a practice guitar that I could kick around a little. This turned to be my main gigging acoustic electric. Sounds great unplugged and plugged in. Yamaha did something right with the ART preamp and the individualized piezo pick up. It is very easy to get a realistic acoustic tone that does not have that piezo quack but still sounds crisp and natural. I plug straight into powered speakers and PA systems and often get compliments on my tone/sound quality from other musicians and non- musicians also. The frets and string height action were not perfect out of the box but I fixed that myself by learning from Youtube videos. Plays great, sounds good like a spruce and rosewood guitar should and does not distort when I strum heavily.
Music background: 30 + years performing musician, recording. Composing.
