Forge your unique signature sounds

XLN Audio's Addictive Keys puts you in the driver's seat, making it easy to create signature sounds that are uniquely your own. Mix and match mic perspectives, experiment with Addictive Keys's powerful EQ, filter, noise generator, compressor, distortion, reverb, delay, tremolo, chorus, and phaser. You also get cool envelopes for filter, pitch and volume.

Addictive Keys starts with primo instruments (natch)

In the development of a software instrument, the sonic qualities of the source is paramount, right? XLN spared no expense, auditioning over ten grand pianos before zeroing in on the one they ended up sampling for Addictive Keys. Similar care went into the selection of the other instruments. After they knew they had the right keys, it was time for extremely persnickety recording, deploying primo vintage tube microphones in studios with outrageous, audiophile acoustics. They captured the instruments from several different perspectives - from close-up with the mics on the soundboard, to distant perspectives with natural room ambience. The result is a warm, lush, and vibrant sound you'll be thrilled to work with.

The MyCloud connection lets you work from anywhere

When you're working in XLN Audio's Addictive Keys you're connected. The online service MyCloud lets you work from anywhere, automatically synchronizing your presets and memos across all of your computers and lets you share your presets with your frieds and collaborators. A handy built-in memo recorder lets you instantly record musical ideas, while all your settings are stored along with your music.

XLN Addictive Keys

Long review, overall excellent basic sounds, some bad sounding presets, I have the Grand, the Mark I, the Digital Grand. Kind of confusing of what to change in the presets, wish there was more info here. Resource hungry when streaming live and problems getting the ASIO drivers working. I'll play a key and it will sound 1 sec later when resource issues appear. I'm on Windows and background programs will sometimes start which creates havoc if I'm running AK. I've stripped my laptop and Windows to reduced CPU load. Support through Messenger FB has been good. I want this to work so badly because these basic sounds are excellent. I'm using as a standalone I assume if you use a daw there would be more resource issues.

I've been trying to choose a VST piano for my Roland FP3. There was a sale on the Sweetwater site I go to regularly on AK. The review seemed solid so I gave it a try. I've spent decades playing on pianos so I missed the true sound of a good piano. The downside this all takes resources by a strong computer. I have an I5 8gb ram 500hdd, wish I had an SSD, I would say if you are planning on getting a beefy VST SDD in my opinion would be a requirement. Most of the installation itself is good and I had no problems. I would recommend more info on which presets require less cpu and which require more so if you are having a tough time with latency you can make good choices. My issue is most of the info relates to using this in a no live format with a daw. I am using it live and as a standalone. My issues are the ASIO drivers do not work with OBS if you are going live. Streamlabs tech support says must recognize the signal, in AK when I select Windows drivers SLOBS recognizes it but these drivers aren't as good and latency and pops randomly pop up, AK did recommend turning off OpenGL which did help quite a bit, but changing the sample rate to me really has helped all that much when it comes to latency and functionality of the software. So where I sit if AK could help me get the ASIO drivers to work I think I would be in good shape. I upgraded to an external SDD but that goes through a USB, so it's helped some, I would recommend an internal SDD.

With all that being said if you are not using this live in a streaming environment the sound is excellent. I wish they would have a better guide when to use what preset. Some of the presets do sound odd, but there are many presets the default grand piano, the jazz piano, and heavy chords have provided quality piano sounds I can use in a mix of pop, standards, and jazz. Also a guide of why you would want to change certain presets to get more of a jazz sound or more of a pop sound or more of an intimate sound. There are simply so many choices and unless you are a sound engineer you really would not understand to change what when.

If you want to hear what they sound on my live stream twitch.tv/garyspiano. VST set up after the 22nd.

Beautiful

I went with Electric Grand, Mark 1, and Modern Upright. XLN has two sales a year where you can pick up anything they sell for %50 off. If you choose to buy from Sweetwater instead of directly from XLN you will have to wait a few more hours to download but you will save a few bucks, I saved $10.

I'm blown away with the quality of tone and the number of sounds you get from each instrument. If you're looking for a great palette of sounds to give your mixes an added flavor then this is a great deal, even at full price.

XLN Addictive Keys

This program originally came bundled with my SONAR Producer X3. I have now upgraded to the SONAR Platinum version which offered more of the XLN Addictive Drums, (which I love). I have already finished 4 original compositions featuring the Addictive Drums and Addictive Keys, and everybody including myself agrees they sound awesome and professional. I highly recommend the XLN products. I am using them with my Windows platform. Regarding the pianos, I did upgrade my Addictive keys from the original bundled to the full version. I am most pleased with the MODERN PIANO sample bank.

I am new to the soft synth world, but am enjoying it immensely. My new originals are blowing me away, and let me finish by saying, I love my ne SONAR Platinum recording package. WOW!
My girlfriend has even made statements about my hours of time spent in my office/recording room. I hate to leave. > Seriously.

Really Good!!!

Addictive keys are really really good! For those of you deciding between EZ keys and this - the sounds of Addictive Keys are WAY better. I have both and I really enjoy EZ keys for the MIDI songwriting functions but now I end up dragging the MIDI from EZ keys to Addictive keys because the sounds are fatter and have more variety of tones. The biggest surprise is the Electric Grand - not normally my thing but now I love it! I think these sounds are comparable to any of the 'professional' piano libraries. Definitely good enough to make it to your final mix. Only taking a half a point off because some of the effected presets are lame and I just don't see the included effects as very useful. If you are really going for 'sound design' with these sounds you'll probably use your own plug ins. Having said that, the included FX are fun for quick inspiration and will keep you from getting stuck on the same sounds.
