Seymour Duncan Pickups - It's all about tone!

With the SL59-1 Little '59, Seymour Duncan lets Strat players add the classic P.A.F. humbucker sound to their tonal arsenal. The SL59-1 Little '59fits perfectly into existing single-coil Stratocaster pickguards with no need for modification. The resulting sound is the same humbucker tone that has made the P.A.F. the standard by which other humbuckers are judged. The polepieces are adjustable, allowing you to get your tone just right, as well as adjusting the balance from string to string. P.A.F. sound in a single-coil: the SL59-1 Little '59!

Sound
The SL59-1 Little '59 P.A.F.-voiced single-coil-sized humbucker is great for country, jazz, blues, funk, classic rock and heavy rock. This little brute was designed to impart the warm, smooth tone of an old Patent Applied For humbucker in a direct replacement, single-coil size. It possesses an even, dynamic response, and its adjustable pole pieces allow the guitarist to fine tune the string balance and dial in just the right amount of punch. Compared to the JB Jr., it has less output and more upper-mids. The SL59-1 Little '59 comes with four-conductor hookup cable.

Complete setup
Available for both bridge and neck/middle positions, the SL59-1 Little '59 is a good match in all well-balanced instruments, and works equally well with maple and rosewood fingerboards.

Chunky

Purchased for a Morrel lap steel. Transformed what was sort of mucky sounding to being able to pick out huge notes. I do recommend grounding the bridge at time of pickup replacement.

Seymour Duncan Little '59 Bridge Pickup

I order this to be used as a middle pickup for my Ibanez RG along with a JB for the bridge and an SH-2 for the neck. I'm absolutely blown away by the combination!

This pickup is a great mini-PAF that sounds awesome in general. My favorite uses for it are for mid-gain, crunchy kind of sound. Sort of that classic SRV or Les Paul type of tone. Does both natural and pinch harmonics surprisingly well, too (Even in the middle position). Phenomenal Pickup in general.

As I've said a million times, you can't beat Sweetwater's service, too. Great prices, great guys, and great deals. Go for it!

Seymour Duncan SL59-1 Little '59 Bridge Pickup

this is absolutely the BEST single coil sized humbucker I've ever heard! It makes my amp sing and really brings out that tube tone I've been searching for. Very defined, can hear every note in a full chord with heavy overdrive distortion. Strong and powerful sounding, yet maintains loads of character and articulation. Totally in love with the sound of this awesome pickup!

Fits a Pignose PGG-200 Travel Guitar

I own a Pignose PGG-200 deluxe travel guitar. Its my first electric guitar and my practice axe. Stock, it came with a ceramic double bladed single-coil pickup. What I liked about that pickup, is when the 9v battery would slightly die out in the Pignose, it gave a howling feedback effect. Sounds nice when experimenting and exploring new sounds, but after a while it can get in the way of your playing. Buying new fresh batteries was the 1st solution but the feedback was present, almost like lingering in the shadows. 2nd solution was connecting to an amp instead of using its internal amp and speaker which proved to be fine but I prefer the internal amp.

Enter the Seymour Duncan Little '59 humbucker. When I first saw it, I thought, "that looks like it can fit in my Pignose." I wasn't sure about modding and upgrading, so I spent a good week on youtube (you have to be careful of whom you take advice from on youtube. Some guys actually talk like a professor but forget simple things like grounding and produce cold solders in their demostrations). Swelled up with enough knowledge, I pulled the trigger with Sweetwater because they know how to treat a musician right.

Long story short, I installed the Little '59 using Seymour Duncan's diagrams on their website. It was pretty easy the way they mapped out the wiring, also a good source of various pickup wiring there. Perfect fit too. Anyway, the Pignose is a quiet mouse. No feedback what so ever (though I did resolder the volume pot and output jack). However, when the battery is dying I do get howling, but not as intense as with the single-coil. On fresh batteries or with an amp, this Little '59 rocks, beautiful distortion when crank the pot to 10.

I gave this a 4.5 because its my first guitar and my first guitar mod, so I can't compare with other humbuckers. It changed my Pignose drastically, from a cheap Toys R Us discount guitar to a professionally sounding one.

Don't delay to mod your travel guitars, Seymour Duncan proved to me to be top quality products.

Little 59 after time

This pickup is loud, the sound is clear and no noise when the strings are not moving. Punchy chills and cuts in when needed. The guys at Sweetwater help me getting the best sound. (Capacitors, switches, etc..) Try it. I use it for solo's in blues.
