Take advantage of the award-winning sound of a pair of top-quality PreSonus preamps to bring your vocals, guitar, and other instruments to life, all captured in up to 24-bit/96kHz professional digital audio resolution. What's more, your AudioBox USB 96 comes complete with PreSonus's Studio One Artist DAW software and over 6GB of bonus content, making it an exceptionally value-packed system.

An ideal interface for singer/songwriters

If you play and sing, then Sweetwater is happy to recommend the PreSonus AudioBox USB 96. We're confident that you'll be satisfied with the performance of this easy-to-use audio interface, just as countless AudioBox users have been before you. Its dual channel design lets you plug in a mic and your guitar and record both at once, and its integrated high-quality preamps ensure that the sound you get is top-notch. An onboard mixer makes it easy to dial the balance between your input and audio playback too, so you never have to worry about latency getting in the way.

Get up to 96kHz resolution via USB 2.0

The "96" in AudioBox USB 96 refers to the expanded capabilities of PreSonus's ultra-affordable 2-channel interface, which allows you to record in full professional 24-bit/96kHz digital resolution. That makes the AudioBox USB 96 not only great for project studio recording, but it also makes it an excellent tool for serious engineers who need an inexpensive mobile recording interface for hooking up to a laptop and tracking overdubs and other tracks when needing to bring the studio to the source. And since it's fully USB bus powered, you don't even need to make room in your laptop bag for an extra power supply when you record on the go.

Start recording right away with Studio One Artist

If you're starting out fresh, then you're going to love the sheer value PreSonus packs into the AudioBox USB 96 audio interface. To begin with, it comes with a full version of PreSonus's acclaimed Studio One Artist DAW software. This ultra-flexible recording environment includes everything you need to get up and running, from audio recording and MIDI sequencing to powerful onboard processing and virtual instruments. That's not all — your AudioBox USB 96 also comes with over 6GB of bonus third-party content, providing you with tons of inspiration and extra tools to fuel your creativity.

Superb software package included

Your purchase includes Studio One Artist and everything you need to start recording via your computer. Plus, to take your recordings to the next level, you get the Studio Magic plug-in suite. This extensive collection of popular plug-ins includes emulations of classic studio gear from legendary manufacturers, adding hundreds of dollars in extra value. Punch up your mix bus with the Brainworx bx_opto compressor, add ambient reverb with Lexicon MPX-i Reverb, fire up transients with SPL's Attacker Plus, and much more. Next best thing to a plug and play

I bought this because the people I know who use computer based pa and recording systems for a living recomended it. I wanted to record direct to my compter, without first mixing down to my CD recorder then loading it into my computer. And I wanted to take old files and use the mix down editing features of Studio One. If I don't die of something first, at 73, I hope to become familiar enough to do some multitracking with it. You will need to add a GOOD quality D I Box if you want to have the most versitality for inputs like I need for my Fostex MR16 and Tascam CD-RW900,as well as various guitar amp feeds, pedals and keyboards) dinosaurs to say the least. So far, with the Studio one software, this little less than $ box can replace all 5,000$ of my 20 year old home studio, with another 50 grand of processing and effects thrown in for free.
I have spent quite a few hours watching tutorial's, which sadly, most are demonstrations of features, not instructional sessions. (Chris Green's are great, and Quanta has a pro level real hands on series) But a patient reading of the quick start guide can get you rolling.
From a hardware perspective this is tough, and almost any input from an xlr output except a speaker feed (I run most things through my board which has a main feed balanced xlr out)is probably safe. Line level quarter inch feeds are best put through a D I Box with a minimum 15dB pad.
I have had a crude home studio since 1964, and never used a computer recording system of any kind before. So if I can climb this learning curve, anybody can.

Works great Linux Audacity Squier Strat

I bought this to motivate me to practice on my squier strat, since I'm a Linux geek recording onto my Ubuntu laptop sounded like fun. Setup was dead simple, just plug in the usb cable and power up the PreSonus, Audacity showed the new audio device (Edit | Preferences | Devices Recording)

Bang for the buck! It goes to 11!

I honestly wasn't expecting much... but I bought it just to take in LTC/Timecode and Midi for designing and automating lights with, but I also needed something easy to use at home for recording my keyboards and taking calls over the internet, and this interface as simple as it is, ticked all the main important boxes. It sounds GOOD! It's built solid! This unit also features detent potentiometers, which is real nice for getting the gains across both inputs to match exactly for when you're recording a stereo source. The headphone output sounds really good, it even goes to 11! This interface also provides 48v Phantom power, but big whoop, don't all interfaces do that? Well this interface happens to be powered over USB! I use both MacOS and Windows and connecting it up was really straight forward.

Coming from an old Behringer FCA1616 interface I've been rocking for years, I've grown accustomed to the beautifully sounding Midas preamps, they sounded good even when you really drove them hard, but they were noisy as heck sometimes, and the knobs just didn't feel solid and were hard to get a stereo pair to match. I also miss the insert jacks on the back of that unit, but I can just get used to running my processing through the front of the Presonus now.

This unit while budget friendly, is a rock solid little box, and I think I want another one already just to have it.

Great product great company.

I'm usually skeptical about buying From websites I don't know. But I was recommended this buy a friend and was not disappointed. Great customer service. Package arrived quick and on time. And there sales rep talked to me personally to make sure my order was handled. They get a two thumbs up and will be recommending.

Not All Black

Works well for my purposes. However, the unit I received is not all black. It is black with silver sides - not black. The front, back, bottom and top are black. Strange. Didn't notice this for a while. So beware if you want an all black unit. 4 stars due to color snafu.

Sweetwater and PreSonus go way back, and that makes a lot of sense. Like Sweetwater, PreSonus is largely staffed by active musicians, songwriters, live sound techs, and engineers, and like Sweetwater, their culture shows up in everything they do. Early on, PreSonus broke ground by offering super-affordable audio interfaces that brought quality recording to home studio engineers everywhere. In the following years, we've been with them as they introduced a powerful, artist-friendly DAW, groundbreaking digital mixers, and more - all products we at Sweetwater use ourselves. One thing that's never changed, even as PreSonus has branched out into new territory, is that they've always done everything possible to provide you with the best value, and we're proud to stand by their products.
