Classic Hollowbody from Gibson
With the 1959 MOD ES-330 from Gibson, you get the same vintage tone, feel, and look as the original model that won over countless players when it was first introduced in 1959. A fully hollowbody thinline, the ES-330 produces a truly unique tonal signature, one that has found its way into the world of jazz, blues, and rock as well as onto countless recordings. With a gorgeous, resonant maple/poplar/maple body and quartersawn mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard, the ES-330 offers the same tonewoods as the original when it first came on the scene. A stunning VOS nitrocellulose lacquer finish showcases the natural colors of the woods, and a pair of Memphis Historic Spec (MHS) humbucker pickups kicks out loads of classic tone.
Built for sound
The pair of MHS humbucker pickups in the ES-330 has been handwired with matched 550K pots and Bumblebee capacitors to deliver the warm, punchy, full tone that classic humbuckers are known for. And with a historic Memphis Tone Circuit (MTC) featuring two volumes, two tones, and a 3-way toggle switch, you can dial in a variety of classic humbucking tones, from gritty and biting to warm and singing. The MTC also allows you to play at lower volumes without losing the well-rounded sound you get at higher volumes. These pickups continue to win over players in jazz, blues, and rock for their versatility and killer sonics.
Oh, that neck!
The quartersawn mahogany neck on the ES-330 has been cut to a classic rounded late-'50s profile that feels amazing in your hand. While playing this slightly thicker neck, many players have discovered that the rounded late-'50s profile offers a unique feel and tone that can't be found on other, slimmer profiles. And the A-grade dark rosewood fingerboard offers incredible playability and response that translates to both flatpicking and fingerpicking.
Incredible details; fine appointments
The ES-330 is packed with incredible detail and fine appointments. Quartersawn Adi spruce bracing ensures excellent tone support and durability for years of playing. A single-ply tan binding ties in beautifully with the 5-ply black pickguard, classic gold controls, VOS nickel hardware, and ABR-1 bridge with plated brass saddles. In addition, the ES-330 features a classic thinline trapeze tailpiece that provides even more tonal support and just looks plain cool. Guitarists here at Sweetwater are in love with all the fine details on this amazing axe.
