Distortion made famous by Jimi Hendrix, Santana, and More!

The Electro-Harmonix Big Muff Pi is the pedal that started it all. The Big Muff Pi is the distortion pedal countless musicians, including Hendrix and Santana, relied on for its rich, creamy, violin-like sustain. A timeless piece, the Electro-Harmonix Big Muff Pi has been defining the sound of rock guitar for the past 30 years.

Like the legendary Big Muff Pi of the '70s, the Electro-Harmonix Big Muff Pi reissue has three controls that let the player dial in the finest harmonic distortion/sustain ever produced. The Big Muff Pi's Volume control adjusts the output level. The Sustain control optimizes the long sustain with just the right amount of harmonic distortion, and the Big Muff Pi's Tone control provides a range of sounds, from warm bass to crisp treble. From Pink Floyd to the Chemical Brothers to Korn, everyone wants a piece of the Pi!

Electro-Harmonix Big Muff Pi Features:
  • Volume control
  • Sustain control
  • Tone control
Electro-Harmonix

From the legendary riffs of Jimi Hendrix and George Clinton to the new-school licks of Slipknot and Korn, musicians have relied on Electro-Harmonix since the late '60s. Whether you crave the sustaining overdrive of the Big Muff Pi or the warm spring reverb of the hot new Holy Grail, Electro-Harmonix has a stompbox with your name on it.

Historic Big Muff

I've been using a Big Muff for decades now and I believe it's the best fuzz out there. Over a fuzz face which I've also used. Now it's been the EHX Big Muff is all I'll have on my board. You won't regret it.

Amazing

Hit this with a Boss SD-1 into the low input or clean channel of a Marshall and watch out. Siamese Dream city. If you dig that Pumkins sound that will get you all the way there. This pedal rocks.

This thing ROCKS.

Bought this guy cuz I wanted to get a tone similar to the band Earthless. On its own, it's still amazing, but paired with a Boss Super Overdrive and Cry Baby Wah it's absolutely heavenly. Quite literally nails the Earthless tone. It is quite big, but that's not an issue. In my opinion the size is necessary to give you an idea of how much this sound rocks.

If you're considering buying this, stop considering and just buy it, you won't regret it.

Excellent battery life and ease of use too.

What Do Our In-house Gear Experts Think?

Matt Emick

Two words: Fuzz Bass!! The Big Muff Pi is one of my favorite pedals for getting a thick, monstrous fuzz bass tone.

Chris McCown

I put this pedal in front of a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe on the clean channel, and PRESTO - instant tonal gratification. The Big Muff Pi is a simple yet effective pedal that allows you to dial in just a little bit of grit, all the way through complete '70s fuzz! It's a classic pedal that you have most likely heard on recordings without even realizing it. It's also built like a tank - no need to worry about pampering this pedal.

Nate Edwards

When you see "electro-harmonix" on a pedal, you know what you're getting - classic tone that's been tested for decades onstage and on countless records, and a sound that nobody else has been able to copy. The Big Muff is no exception, and what's more, it's American made. If you're a serious guitarist or bassist and want a classic fuzz distortion in your arsenal, stop shopping around and check this one out.
