D’Addario: innovative strings since 1680

When you go with D’Addario, you receive far more than a great set of strings. You’re benefiting from three centuries of string-making experience. The D’Addario family tradition began in 1680 in the tiny town of Salle, Italy, where they made assorted instrument strings for over 200 years before relocating to New York in 1905. Since then, the D’Addario family has become a leader in string innovation. They designed the modern winding machine, introduced ultra-reliable hexagonal core wires, and pioneered the colored-coded ball end movement. More than 300 years since the family started making strings, D’Addario continues to set a global standard for quality and reliability. And every day, more than 500,000 strings emerge from their USA-based workshops.

D'Addario XL Nickel Wound 6-string Electric Guitar Strings Features:

  • A value-packed set of guitar strings
  • Nickel-plated steel wrap wire provides a snappy attack and smooth sustain
  • Hexagonal steel core wire provides extra stability, greater reliability, and improved intonation
  • Roundwound construction provides a familiar playing feel
  • Precision winding technique ensures every pack feels exactly the same
  • Corrosion-resistant packaging keeps strings fresh in storage
  • Color-coded ball ends make it easy to change and replace strings

Got them on my Ibanez AZ2204b Prestige

They are smooth, perfect chimey harmonics that ring, they do best with stainless steel frets, clear & Pure Tone,i really like how tough they were,i use manh many tunings, and my az prestige came with them, love these,i was an ernie ball guy but playing these with my prestige is so so good, they dont snap easily, good vibrato/bend..I am about to order some to change them, stilll good tone after 7.5 months no change.
Music background: Played 11 years,into math rock,alt,midwest emo,rock,70’s & 80’s stuff.

Long lasting, clear as crystal, very affordable

Gee, this 3-pack has to be just about the best value in electric guitar strings. On D'Addario's brightness scale these nickel-wound strings are considered bright, much more so than chromes. They work beautifully on semi-hollow and hollow electric guitars like the 335, and Casino. D'Addario makes two basic types of 10-46 strings. Some sets have a wound 3rd (G string) and others, including this set, a plain 3rd. The plain 3rd perfectly matches the E and B strings. This is especially useful if you play a lot of three finger chords, balanced by bass lines, up and down the neck. Of all the dozens of strings I've used over the last decades, these are the ones I reach for to string a chambered Les Paul, a Midtown Custom, a 339, a 335, or a Casino. Fender tube amps react very well to the nickel winding. With all the specialty strings with special coatings that are on the market, sometimes the best turn out to be the simplest. If I'm not using flat-wounds, I'm using these.

been reliable since the 70's

i always used these strings i recently tried elixirs and i like them but the jury is still out on the strat with them,i tried a 3 pack of ernie ball 10-46 and they had issues going out of tune(not sure what they did)but no good, the elixirs stay in tune ,i can tell you that over 40 yrs with exl and never a problem prob gonna try these on strat again they sound great and trust me they are not prone to breakage ever so its these or elixir only for me

Best Sounding and Lasting

I was a confirmed EB super slinky guy for years! Gigged with them exlusivley. One day I was listening to an interview with Cesar Rosas. (Los Lobos)
They had just broke big and I loved his guitar sound. The guy ask him what strings he uses. Diadario 10s. I was like I play 10s! So tried them, I never looked back. No comparison. They sound cleaner, crisper and last longer. I recently bought a used Ernie Ball Valentine guitar. It came with new EB SS 11s. Guess what, they sounded great but ya they are slinky under my fingers! Put on the DA 10s. Much better.
DAs are a little stiffer than EB SSs but just a little and after they break in not much difference in playability. They just sound better, to me.
But we all have different tastes. My son plays EBs!
