Innovative Strings Since 1680

When you go with D’Addario, you receive far more than a great set of strings. You’re benefiting from three centuries of string-making experience. The D’Addario family tradition began in 1680 in the tiny town of Salle, Italy, where they made assorted instrument strings for over 200 years before relocating to New York in 1905. Since then, the D’Addario family has become a leader in string innovation. They designed the modern winding machine, introduced ultra-reliable hexagonal core wires, and pioneered the colored-coded ball end movement. More than 300 years since the family started making strings, D’Addario continues to set a global standard for quality and reliability. And every day, more than 500,000 strings emerge from their USA-based workshops.

D’Addario Phosphor Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings Features:

  • Precision-wound acoustic guitar string for all situations
  • Phosphor bronze wrap wire contributes a warm, enveloping tone
  • Hexagonal steel core wire provides extra stability, greater reliability, and improved intonation

Great Strings

You can buy a more expensive string and strings coated with all kinds of coatings. I play a lot and change strings frequently and these are my favorite. I have them on all three of my acoustic guitars including my Gibson J45. Since I change frequently, the cost of these is very reasonable. I teach a few people and I put these on their guitars or encourage them to get these. They are great all around strings.

D'Addario EJ 16 Ph Br

I like these. They're a great value, sound good and I always stay over-stocked on the 3 packs. One set lasts me about 2 months in fall/winter and about 2 to 3 weeks (spring/summer) high humidity and heavy playing per guitar. I've never had one break but I change them pretty often at the first sign of "kinks" over the 5/7/9/12 frets or rust spots but I have wet hands and hold chords and notes pretty aggressive-like. Never tried elixirs and i sparingly use Martin lifespans but for the price these are my everyday go to strings.

The Best

I've had over 30 acoustic guitars ( either that makes me experienced or wishy washy lol). I guess I know a little. I've also went through numerous different strings trying to get that sound and playability. I've used silk and steel, silk and bronze, extra light to medium and you have to have a compromise somewhere. I ended up with a Martin 000-28 and a Yari WY1. Both folk sized, I fingerpicking. I like the extra light strings for their ease of play but with my sorta heavy touch I get a lot of unwanted noise and lack of tone due to the string diameter. I've used Elixir 10-48's , Optima 10-43's (they were well balanced) and countless others but the sound that comes out of my boxes with these Daddario 12-53's, well there is no comparison. Hands down, these are the best! The tone is amazing and the feel like no other. Great bass, mids., and the treble is bell like and not tinney like you sometimes get from 10 or 11's. Just get a sack full of these and you'll be good to go!!!

My go-to strings

I"ve been using these strings for a few decades and they never let me down. They have a great all-around tone with a round focused bottom, fairly mellow midrange and a bright, shimmery top. They suit both flat picking and finger style in all the genres I play. I also use these on the guitars my clients use the my studio.

I just put them on but they sound great and the low price blew me away. I think these just became by new favorite strings.
