A Lattice-braced Classical Guitar

The handmade Cordoba C12 nylon-string classical guitar fuses modern elements with traditional design. It starts with a solid Indian rosewood back and sides with a flame maple center wedge and a lattice-braced solid European spruce top, for rich tones with a lively presence. The mahogany neck with an extended fingerboard provides better access to upper frets and excellent sustain. For a remarkably beautiful guitar that performs as good as it looks, get the Cordoba C12.

Modern elements meet traditional design

Cordoba incorporated a few modern design elements into the C12, giving it a distinct voice and greater playability. The Cordoba C12 features a lattice-braced top. Lattice bracing increases a guitars projection and sensitivity. You'll also enjoy increased access to the upper frets and increased playability from the C12's raised fingerboard.

Premium tonewoods deliver big tone

You'll love the rich, full tone of the Cordoba C12's premium tonewoods. Solid Indian rosewood back and sides with a flame maple center wedge set a powerful tonal foundation for the solid European spruce top, giving you the right balance of warmth and brightness. The neck is solid mahogany, for maximum transfer of string energy to the spruce top. An ebony fingerboard and Indian rosewood bridge complete the elegant look.

Great look, great playability

The Cordoba C12 is gorgeous to simply look at, from the detailed mother-of-pearl "Esteso" rosette inlay and maple binding to the gold tuners with ebony buttons. And you'll love how the gloss finish shows off the Indian rosewood body and European spruce top. But looks aren't everything, the C12 was designed with playability in mind, and the great look is just the icing on the classical cake.

Cordoba C12 Nylon-string Acoustic Guitar Features:

  • Handmade classical guitar with premium tonewoods
  • Solid Indian rosewood back and sides with a flame maple center wedge for full-bodied frequency response
  • Solid European spruce top for excellent definition and projection
  • Combines elegance detailing with premium tonewoods and classic construction methods for an amazingly playable guitar

C12 Spruce

Was fortunate to pick up a used C12 Spruce that was absolutely like new (originally bought at Sweetwater). I can't get over how great it sounds. I expected the trebles to be impressive, since it's a spruce, but I am blown away at how strong and lively the bass strings come though. I now need to focus on softening my attack on the bass strings! I am really pleased with this guitar. As my fifth classical guitar (yamaha, kremona, taylor, guild), i have some good reference points. Being an intermediate player, with no expectations of becoming a concert performer, this is everything I need, and more. Very rewarding to hear how the pieces I play immediately sound so much more melodic on this instrument.

I acquired a C12SP earlier last spring. Used it to record 3 songs I arranged for my church. They have been playing those songs during the preclude of every Sunday service. They even played them whenever laying slides not dubbed with vocal or music. They all

C12 Spruce

I'm impressed with this guitar! I have played a Cordoba 45R for twelve years, and that got me through all of my undergrad performances and my graduate auditions. After playing a lot of different, non-custom built classicals, I settled on this one about a year ago. The tone is incredibly balanced and the fingerboard is highly accessible the whole way up. It also has a very wide dynamic range. Overall, I'm very impressed with this instrument!

My favorite guitar

This is my first classical guitar and I absolutely love it. I bought this guitar a few months ago and I love the tone and playability. I think the action comes a bit high out of the box, but it does had a truss rod that allows for some adjustment. If you're looking to try a classical guitar I recommend a Cordoba and if you can afford one, the C12.

What a sound!

This lovely guitar is very "playable" with smooth frets, perfect intonation, nice action and all the rest you'd expect at this price point. But the sound is outstanding: well balanced, both when played loudly and aggressively and when played softly. Sustain is outstanding. I have always struggled with playing legato, but the great sustain makes it easier. I was not expecting the raised fingerboard to make much difference in playing upper frets, but I was surprised by how much difference it makes. Finish is flawless, with a beautiful maple center wedge, which gives a nice contrast to the rosewood. The spruce top has some attractive figuring, and is very tight grained, which I am sure is part of the wonderful sound. Short of spending 2 to 5 times as much to get a luthier built concert instrument, I can't imagine finding a nicer classical guitar. A few caveats: Not the guitar you want for Flamenco, as the sound is sweet rather than percussive, even when played ponticello. If you want a really warm sound, the cedar topped version might be a better fit, as the spruce version is definitely brighter sounding. And to be really nit-picky, I would have preferred a more traditional, multi-colored wood rosette to the abalone inlaid one, albeit it is a pretty one. Overall, a lovely classical guitar with a beautiful voice. Nothing else (except the cedar topped C-12) is even close at this price point.
