Compact, Portable PA for Small- to Mid-sized Venues

In need of a lightweight, travel-friendly PA system for your next club or café gig? Look no further than the Bose L1 Pro16 portable line array system. This all-in-one PA is simple to set up, and you don't have to be an audio professional to dial in an excellent sound with its onboard 3-channel mixer. Take advantage of its ToneMatch presets to get a flattering vocal or acoustic guitar tone with the simple press of a button. Gigging musicians at Sweetwater appreciate the convenience, portability, and stunning audio quality the Bose L1 Pro16 provides. It's an ideal portable PA for solo artists and small ensembles who are often expected to supply their own sound. With useful features like Bluetooth connectivity, remote control via Bose's free L1 Pro Mix App, and a ToneMatch port for expanding the channel count, the Bose L1 Pro16 offers a hassle-free path to a great-sounding show!

Delivers sound to the audience and sound to the stage

With one trip from the car to the stage, you'll have your full PA system and monitoring system in one hand — all thanks to Bose's line array technology. The Bose L1 Pro16 system has 16 2-inch neodymium drivers inside a vertical enclosure — all positioned at precise angles. The result is nearly 180° of even horizontal sound coverage, so the sound remains the same, even at the extreme sides of the audience or the stage. Instead of dialing in a stage monitor while wondering what the mix sounds like from the crowd, you'll always hear exactly what the audience hears with the Bose L1 Pro16.

Small, lightweight, and easy to set up

Apart from its excellent sound, arguably the best part about the Bose L1 Pro16 system is that it's easy to carry and set up. You won't need to call in help just to get the system into the gig, and you won't have to labor through tons of cable connections and audio-testing steps. Weighing under 55 lbs., the Bose L1 Pro16 is light enough for one musician to carry, and it sets up in minutes flat. You can also choose between two setup positions, depending on the space you're performing in: a collapsed position for smaller spaces and an extended position to fill larger rooms.

Compact and durable high-excursion Racetrack driver

One element that makes the L1 Pro16 so highly portable is its 10-inch by 18-inch neodymium Racetrack driver. Often found in small audio systems, Racetrack drivers use an elongated cone shape to match the performance of traditional circular speaker cones in a slimmer format. Bose has enlarged the typical Racetrack driver design to deliver solid, room-filling low end from a slim, travel-friendly footprint.

Built-in 3-channel mixer with illuminated controls

On the back of the Bose L1 Pro16’s subwoofer, you'll find a convenient 3-channel mixer with two 1/4-inch and XLR combo inputs, each with 48V phantom power for use with condenser mics, active ribbon mics, and mic boosters. For connecting laptops and other audio devices, the L1 Pro16 contains 1/4-inch and 1/8-inch auxiliary inputs, or you can pair any Bluetooth-enabled device for wireless streaming. Illuminated digital rotary encoders for the volume, bass, and treble controls are easy to see in dark venues. Need more inputs? No problem! Simply connect a Bose T4S or T8S Tone Match mixer via ToneMatch cable to the L1 Pro16’s ToneMatch port.

Two ToneMatch channels with perfect presets for singer/songwriters

If you sing and play guitar, the Bose L1 Pro16 PA system is perfect for you — although its applications extend far beyond just that. What makes the L1 Pro16 so convenient is that it has two of Bose's elite ToneMatch channels. Bose has preconfigured presets for a vocal microphone and an acoustic guitar, so it'll sound great with no tweaking necessary.

L1 Pro Mix App and wireless audio streaming

Get true freedom of movement and take wireless control of the L1 system with the Bose L1 Mix App for Android and iOS devices. With this handy app, you can adjust settings, access custom ToneMatch EQ presets, and stream audio right from your phone or tablet. As a solo artist, that means you can tweak a mix on the fly without having to leave your seat or bend down to use the L1 Pro16’s onboard mixer. And, for live sound engineers, the L1 Mix App enables you to roam the room and fine-tune the mix so that it sounds great from wherever you’re listening.

Bose L1 Pro16 Portable Line Array System Features:

  • All-in-one mixer, PA system, and stage monitoring system
  • Bose line array technology delivers sound evenly across the stage and throughout the audience
  • 16 2-inch neodymium drivers and integrated subwoofer with high-excursion Racetrack driver
  • 2 ToneMatch channels with fixed presets for a vocal microphone and an acoustic guitar
  • Integrated subwoofer with high-excursion neodymium Racetrack driver

Bose L1 Pro16 Is The Best All Around PA System

I've haven't been playing LIVE music for long, started in 2019 playing open chords to backing tracks and I've always wanted a Bose L1 Pro 16 and finally, a dream has come true with my Bose L1. Easiest set up and tear down, best coverage with 180 degrees of awesome, powerful, clear, best audio quality in LIVE music for small to medium venues. Thank you, Sweetwater, you've done it for me again.

Long time Wedding DJ review of the L1 Pro 16s after about 50 events.

After DJing multiple sized venues and crowds including a gymnasium venue. My review of the Bose L1 Pro 16s.

*One other topic I wanted to add is on the 'Hissing problem" I've seen posted on various sites. I had this problem too but once I switched the input from XLR to 1/4 inch speaker cable the hissing went away. Also make sure you adjust the Unity gain for these speakers. My gains are MUCH different (lower) using these speakers vs traditional style DJ speakers.

Bose L1 Pro16 Meets My Need

Many thanks to Alan Carter for helping me select this system for a specific type venue - A small bar/restaurant that has limited space and sonic challenges with patron background talking (all good). I wanted a quick setup/breakdown without sacrificing the quality sound I get from my QSCs. I play in an acoustic duo with some use of electric guitar, so I was worried about guitar sound through this array, as well as vocals. We have used this in practice and will know more about how this sounds in one of our bars this weekend. I've been able to dial in my acoustic guitar pedal board through a Soundcraft Signature 12 and it sounds awesome. Likewise, rather than bring in my large Headrush board, I am taking a Tech 21 5 V2 to use for both clean and dirty. Sounds alright for the songs we do, but it's a bit tricky to match all sounds. However, the purpose is to have a smaller pedal in our space. I'll add another quick review once I put all of this into the live setting.
Music background: Gig regularly for past 30+ years. Acoustic and light Rock.

Beast

After a few months I can confirm this thing is awesome. I've used it for everything from solo acoustic gigs to a three piece band in a small hall (with external mixer for more inputs). Room filling sound with power to spare. Pro tip (from an actual pro I know): put it behind you and leave your monitors at home, let the anti-feedback magic do its thing. The only issue is now I'm probably gonna have to get a second one for stereo sound and the ToneMatch mixer!
Music background: Long term beginner guitar/bass/drums/sound
