Album Review: Minimum-Maximum [Live] by Kraftwerk

This is a live album recorded on Kraftwerk's 2004 tour, though the only live-sounding thing about it is the smattering of distant applause barely detectable between tracks. And maybe they overdubbed that on afterwards. Still, Kraftwerk devotees were never attracted to them for the way they hurled themselves into the jaws of the moshpit or set fire to their guitars, and this two-disc package offers pristine new recordings of material stretching across most of the band's career.

For rock bands, hauling gear across countries and continents has not changed a great deal in the past several decades. The same can't be said for Kraftwerk. Grappling with sensitive cables and other technical gadgets in extreme climates has become a thing of the past. For them, everything has become easier to manage and transport, so it's natural that they'd become more enthusiastic about touring.
